Addison County Amateur Radio Association

1st Saturday of the month, 4 – 6 p.m.

The Addison County Amateur Radio Association (ACARA) provides a forum for members to share amateur radio and its value to the general public as a non-commercial voluntary communication service, particularly with respect to providing emergency communications.
In addition, ACARA offers members support for their educational, technical, experimental, and other electronic- and radio-related activities. Come join us at any of our upcoming meetings to meet local Ham Radio operators and learn more about our amazing hobby. Public welcome!

Burlington Writers Workshop at Ilsley

2nd and 4th Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m. (with occasional exceptions)

The Middlebury branch of the Burlington Writers Workshop is open to writers in all genres and all levels of experience. Two participants submit work for review at each meeting. The workshop strives to provide positive support and feedback. The workshop process focuses on how all participants can improve and develop their writing through the workshop process. The Burlington Writers Workshop was founded in 2009 and provides extensive programs to support the work of its more than 800 writer-members. Membership is open and free of charge (though tax deductible donations are always welcome). Participation in the workshop is scheduled through the MeetUp.com website. Conversational Spanish

Tuesdays, 11:00 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.

This group, led for the past 15 years by Patty Penuel and David Forman, is open to all interested in practicing their Spanish. Participants should have a comfortable level of speaking, as all conversation will be in Spanish. For more information, ask at the adult circulation desk.

Middlebury Mac User Group

First Monday of  the month, 7 – 8:30 p.m. (with exceptions).

The Middlebury Mac User Group (MiddMUG) shares information regarding Apple products, including Macintosh computers, iPhones, iPads, and the Apple watch. All are welcome, no matter your level of expertise. We teach each other and help solve each other’s problems, swap or share gear and books. We share the work of organizing and running meetings. Poetry Group

Thursdays, 1 p.m. – 3 p.m.

For over 15 years a group of local poets have met in the library to discuss their work. This is a workshop so the emphasis is on helping each other to improve the effectiveness of the work. Interests and techniques vary widely. The longevity of this workshop testifies to the courtesy shown by participants and to the effective leadership of David Weinstock, who began the workshop and oversees the sessions.
